Biography
Kitoko Diva is a director, cinematographer and visual artist interested in the physical spatialization of moving images, through large-scale installations, but also immersive techniques ranging from 180 ° dome film experience to the use of augmented reality. Her manipulation of images explores new forms of experimental storytelling, blurring the line between fiction and documentary.
Kitoko Diva studied theatre performance before exploring video art and experimental filmmaking. After graduating with a BFA in Art History and Archeology, Diva further developed her research and practice in cinematography, video installation, sound design and art technologies. Her works have been recently screened at the Guggenheim Museum of New York for the exhibition “Sometimes it’s beautiful”, the Tate Modern in London for “Southwark Untold Pempeople” and selected for the 2021 annual list of the Aesthetica Art Prize magazine program. Kitoko Diva also hosts an experimental one hour long format show on NTS Radio, presenting archives, music production and audio essay pieces on black bodies tales and cosmology imagery.
Born in France, Diva has lived in the United States before settling down in the United Kingdom.
